Dads have to work harder than ever to provide for their families, and may be too tired to give as much quality time to their family that they would love to give. In Oliver Sacks’ book, The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat, the author tells a story about a brain injured man who perceives his wife as a hat. Is it really any surprise that he didn’t see her as a race car, but as a comfortable hat that he enjoyed wearing?

Do you make the same mistake with your husband or Dad? Do you tend to interact with him only when you need money? Has he become nothing but a “wallet” to you?

This Fathers Day, make the time to improve your relationship and show him that you love him for all that he means to you, whether he’s your Dad or the father of your children.

It’s too easy to fall into narrow roles in a family, and Dad certainly can add to the impression that he’s only there as a meal ticket. But with a little bit of effort, you can change this around. He may the type of father who generously gives to his family, but he still needs your acknowledgement that you care about him and who he is aside from being your father or husband.

So what would you say is the quality of your money?

The way you handle, and how you regard money directly affects how your daily financial life looks. The law of attraction argues that you get what you think about or how you treat thoughts. If you change your thoughts about money you change your financial health as well.

EXERCISE:

1. Take out your wallet

2. How much money do you have in your wallet?

3. What is the condition of your money? Is it Organized, Neat, Crumpled, In sequence?

4. What it the condition of your wallet?

The amount of money you are carrying in your wallet is significant. Do you carry just a little (feeling like you cannot trust yourself?). Are you carrying a large amount (do you feel more self worth?).

Is your money neat and organized (you respect and value its worth)? Is it crumpled with coins rambling around in the bottom of your purse (just like your disorganized financial life?). Is your wallet in good condition perfect to hold this very important part of your life? Or is it ready to fall apart like your finances!

How we handle our money speaks volumes as to what our relationship with money is. Your wallet is a subconscious signal to this aspect of your life.

If your roof is leaking you fix it. If you finances are a mess you need to fix them too! Feng Shui beliefs hold that everything is interrelated and therefore you must deal with your financial life as well!

The ladies’ handbag has been around for centuries and more recently there has been a lot of attention towards the status symbol of the handbag. What sort of arm candy you wear on your wrist it seems is just as important as who you will be voting for, for president.

There must be a point then, it seems when a hot pink t-shirt, when meant to be soft is covered in cold scratchy zippers- fashion winning out over function. The crazy 1980’s was when design took over fashion in many ways. Comfort did not win in the end. Today’s designer handbags and wallets can fail to function as a proper handbag too. The highly recognized quality Coach purse or Prada Bag is a mark of status, no doubt about it. Do these high price tags function as purely fashion or are they functional too? How far has our handbag love gone?

The “Chihuahua Bag” became a symbol after Paris Hilton was seen sporting her miniature furry pets all over town in her handbag. Is that really functional? Do you move your puppy over just to reach for your wallet? And speaking of wallets, how does a functional wallet apply? Is there such a thing as a designer wallet with too many credit card pockets? How Many Wallets Are Too Much? Maybe One Large bag Would Suffice?

Wallets Are For Cool Guys

To loosely quote Al Pacino, "A wise guy doesn't carry his money in a wallet. He carries it in a roll..."

I can't remember the line exactly, but it was something like that. Everybody has watched a gangster movie and seen the wise guy get the bundle of dollar bills from his back pocket. But for those who really don't want to look like a wise guy, a wallet is the money carrying vehicle of choice.

There's something about a beautifully crafted piece of leather or, increasingly, other materials such as canvas, that really adds value to the money, if that makes sense. Money is a mark of stature and carrying it round in a wallet adds that extra something. And there's no shortage of wallet types to choose from these days. If you're the type who really likes to carry a huge amount of cash with you (read: I don't trust myself with a credit card) then one of of the many chunky designs should suit you. With these you can carry enough easily for a night out on the town.

The one big disadvantage with the chunky types is that they make a big bulge in your clothing... But then again if you're the type who likes to flaunt his cash, then a bulge in the pocket of your jeans might be your thing...

It won't fit into your pocket, but straps round the waist on a large leather belt. Just the ticket.

So wise guys don't carry money in a wallet. But maybe cool wise guys with an eye for fashion and utility do.
